Smiles of success: Nick Elletson and Khaleel Ahmed

We’re over the moon to announce that Khaleel Ahmed has been nominated for a Celebrating Success award by The Prince’s Trust.

The Prince’s Trust Celebrating Success Awards  – a highlight of the Trust’s year – brings together inspirational young people who have overcome barriers such as unemployment or homelessness, and acknowledging their achievements.

Khaleel has been put forward for the Rising Star Award for Yorkshire & Humber, an accolade that rewards progressing positively in the face of adversity. He was nominated by the Prince’s Trust itself, who keep in touch and provide vital support to their young people until they are 24.

Khaleel says: “I feel excited and very proud to be nominated for an award by The Prince’s Trust, an organisation that has helped me turn my life around.”

Nick Elletson, head of our Bayford Foundation which is run by The Right Fuelcard Company, first met Khaleel through the Prince’s Trust, on a course entitled: ‘Getting into Customer Service’ which took place in Bradford. After an impressive performance, Khaleel was hired in April 2015 as data inputter for the foundation.

Nick comments: “I’m really pleased that the work we undertake alongside the Prince’s Trust has led to one of our young people being recognised for their achievements. We value our long-standing partnership with the Trust which helps to develop key skills, confidence and motivation – enabling young people to move into work, education or training.”

Around one in eight young people in the UK are not in work, education or training. Youth unemployment costs the UK economy £10 million a day in lost productivity, while youth crime costs £1 billion every year.

Many of the young people The Prince’s Trust helps are in or leaving care, facing issues such as homelessness or mental health problems – or have been in trouble with the law.

The Trust’s programmes give young people the practical and financial support they need to stabilise their lives. For more information on the Trust visit www.princes-trust.org.uk or call 0800 842 842.
