We will soon be bidding a fond farewell to our fab work placement student, Oliver Hempsall. To mark this sad departure, we asked the 22-year-old marketing assistant to run through his exciting stay with us and The Right Fuelcard Company (TRFC), which runs our Foundation:
I was immediately struck by the ‘chilled out nature’ of the assessment day and the working environment here – and came away having enjoyed it hugely, which is always a pleasant surprise.
Working here has been an amazing experience. To be a part of the mission to help so many people and provide a second chance to individuals has been very fulfilling and I am very proud of the work I can say I have contributed to.
My day-to-day roles are varied, with time split between the Foundation and TRFC. One day I will be creating web and blog content then the next, managing email sales campaigns and social media posts.
The ongoing excellent training I received really did help. TRFC business director, Adam Walsh and Foundation manager, Nick Elletson, both invested a lot of time in my development. I also quickly discovered that the whole team is supportive and will always pass on tips or offer help if needed. It really does feel like a family.
I had heard stories of people only making the tea on their placements. However, I was given huge responsibilities – recently culminating in my being put in charge of the marketing department.
This allowed me to develop as an individual and professionally – and I will be able to apply a lot of fresh relevant knowledge to the final year of my Marketing degree at Sheffield Hallam University. Newly acquired organisational skills will also help me prioritise my workload better when I have assignment deadlines to meet!
I would advise anyone seeking an enjoyable, structured sales career to check out TRFC.
