We’re celebrating the achievements of yet another fantastic Bayford Foundation graduate – but this time it’s for their success in an external qualification rather than a move to The Right Fuelcard Company’s (TRFC) sales team.

Our foundation manager, Nick Elletson, has gained his CIPD Level 5 Diploma in HR Management at a vibrant award ceremony at Leeds University. He was formally presented with his certificate by bestselling author, broadcaster and educator Gervase Phinn.

The event was the culmination of a year’s hard work for Nick which, along with his busy day role, saw him studying one evening a week at Leeds City College, followed by a raft of assignments and revision at home most weekends.

Nick’s Level 5 Diploma in HR Management complements the great experience he has amassed during his time managing the Bayford Foundation. The equivalent of a foundation degree, the Diploma focusses on the modern business environment where HR is crucial for growth and development.

Spanning subjects including employment law, management techniques, employee relations and various business disciplines, the course enabled Nick to brush up on familiar areas and gain valuable insights into new ones – boosting both his practical skills and confidence.

Nick says: “As well as equipping me with new knowledge and learning in areas such as the law and trade union practice, which is serving me well day-to-day, the course has also given me clarity and focus by validating ways of working I already had in place.

“I have also learnt that I am capable of more than I thought I was – which has given me a renewed self-assurance. A heartfelt thanks to TRFC for sponsoring my studies and helping me to develop personally and professionally.”

Nick is just one of many employees maximising the wealth of opportunities we provide for career progression via the classroom. Account Manager Martin Taylor-Hemingway has also achieved the Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership from the Chartered Management Institute at Leeds City College, while Junior Credit Controller Sherelle, Senior and Credit Manager, Steve Kershaw, are studying credit related qualifications there at the moment.
