We’re celebrating as three more trainees have graduated into full time positions following the end of our third bootcamp.
Our trio are Terry Barker, Chantelle Robinson and Rob Wood – taking the number of long term jobs we have created in the energy industry to 13.
We recruit candidates via non-traditional routes thanks to the great support we are receiving from partners and community organisations such as The Hunslet Club and The Prince’s Trust. Our bootcamp trainees hail from wide-ranging backgrounds, some are long-term unemployed and others have previous sales experience.
The latest milestone comes after our pioneering foundation was profiled in the Yorkshire Post. Leader of the Bayford Foundation June Forsyth told writer Chris Bond: “Our aim is not just to train people in sales and say ‘there you are, go and get yourself a job,’ which is what a lot of training courses do. What we’re actually saying is ‘if you’re successful in this training you will be guaranteed a job with a £16,000 salary’ – and that’s the biggest difference between ourselves and everybody else.”
Asked what it felt like to graduate, Chantelle Robinson says: “It means everything to me, it’s made me more confident and I really feel that I’ve achieved something. I’ve honestly enjoyed all of it; there hasn’t been a part that I haven’t loved. And also really finding out who I am and what I can do.”
Rob Wood adds: “I’m absolutely ecstatic; I’ve now got a job which means more security and money coming in. I will be working with a fantastic team for a really great company. I’ve enjoyed how it’s not been deadly serious. We’ve all been able to have a laugh too. I’m good at computers but this is to a new level, I’ve learnt so much and taken in lots of information about the industry over the last six weeks.
Terry Wood comments: “It’s brilliant; I now have a full time job and no longer need to look for work. I’ve worked hard and it’s paid off. Gaining employment has been a breath of fresh air and I couldn’t be happier. What I’ve enjoyed the most about the foundation is the relaxed atmosphere on a daily basis, with the essence of professionalism and the commitment throughout the whole programme.”
