We’re on the cusp of transforming our vision to create a storming job creation foundation – a UK first – into reality with fourteen fantastic recruits lined up for our first boot camp which takes off on Monday, August 12.
Our state-of-the-art offices at Gibraltar House in Hunslet, where the Foundation is based, are taking shape in readiness for our packed 12-week packed programme – and our existing team can’t wait to welcome our recruits.
In a ‘learn as you earn’ formula, we’re investing up to £5,000 to put each participant through our rolling training programmes and paying them a salary for their duration. Successful candidates will be awarded a university recognised qualification from the University of Derby and go on to earn a minimum £16k annual salary – with the potential to ramp up their earnings as they progress with us.
We’ve lined up a series of upbeat guest speakers and fun challenges for the holistic course. Our programme integrates sales training – including an Apprentice style competition with recruits selling goods on market stalls – with lifestyle and personal development sessions on yoga, vocal theatrics – and how to manage your money.
All monies we raise from exercises such as the market stall competition, and a pantomime we’re lining up starring our new and existing teams, will go towards the Leeds Children’s Charity – the Foundation’s adopted charity which sends 350 children each year from the most deprived areas of Leeds to its holiday centre on the border of Lancashire and Cumbria.
With 40 jobs up for grabs in the short term – and hundreds of long term job opportunities – we’re not seeking recruits with a wealth of sales or business experience. Where they have come from – and what they have previously achieved or failed at – is irrelevant to us.
The common factor binding them is their passion and commitment to be the best they can be, with the opportunity to progress within a highly competitive and dynamic market place. In the words of our head of sales Ros Shaw: “We’re looking for sparkly people – because sparkly people create sparkly businesses.”
The Foundation is our way of giving something back to the local community. Our ethos is to provide quality, recognised skills’ training and create real jobs for local people who might not otherwise have a chance to succeed.
As we countdown to August 12 we want to say a BIG thank you to the organisations supporting our vision. They include The Probation Service, The Princes Trust, The Hunslet Club, The Rotary Club of Leeds, Interserve and Workplace Leeds.
We’re already planning to host another series of auditions with a difference in readiness for our next boot camp.
